  8. Sick and tired of getting jerked around by corporate powers that don't
  9. care a <insert favorite explative here> about the potential of quality
  10. products and just want to line their pockets? (aside from the fact that
  11. they could have done a better job even doing that if they'd just
  12. listened to the Community).  Well, so are several others in the Amiga
  13. Community.  Phoenix Platform Consortium is up and operational and needs
  14. everyone's support.

  16. Formed by a collection of all our favorite Amiga developers and
  17. companies, it's their aim to provide a common ground for all
  18. Amiga Hardware and Software developers, a chance to make a go of a new
  19. Amiga on our own.

  21. Of course, this doesn't mean that we have a few vitals like a public
  22. promotion campaign of a new computer system that will attract the
  23. attentipon of the general public, but it's a start. The best way of
  24. summoning their purpose up is to quote the mandate given on their web
  25. site...

  27. "The Phoenix Platform Consortium provides a healthy professional
  28. climate for developers by fostering communication between members,
  29. presenting a unified voice to outside concerns, and maintaining
  30. channels to and from the user community. The main goal of Phoenix is
  31. to promote an Amiga-inspired reference platform by ensuring
  32. cooperation and collaboration, building and sustaining a marketplace,
  33. and cementing relationships with primary technology and capital
  34. providers.

  36. As such, Phoenix goes beyond traditional categories of software and
  37. hardware membership to encourage status for marketing specialists,
  38. dealers, publishers, agents providing financial or project management
  39. services and support, and think-tank out-sourcing. Phoenix is
  40. independent and self-supporting, and urges strong autonomy at the
  41. same time providing mechanisms for the formation and evolution of
  42. active research and implementation groups.
